Motivation for Connection

Motivation for Connection

Hello Friends,

“What is my motivation for staying connected with my daughter?”

I encourage you to sit down and really ponder that question. Make a list of all the reasons. This list may be long or short, deep or surfaced, beneficial or self-serving… Whatever it looks like, I can guarantee that at the root of it all, your reasons for wanting to stay connected come from a place of deep love and a strong desire to keep your kids safe.

Of course, that connection can easily get muffled by a million and one different things. Like when we forget to listen, or don’t pay attention to their body language, or get triggered in our own responses - just to name a few.

Simply put, our connection and influence with our daughters weakens when we’re not present. And when that point of connection weakens, our kids’ already wobbly sense of self can feel even less stable for them.

What can we do as parents to stay present and keep that connection strong on our end?

Imagine how impactful it would be if you took the time to learn a bunch of new strategies to help you regain your ability to stay present and remain a steady presence for your daughter. How to listen in a new way. How to ask the right kind of questions. How to trust their clumsy processes without getting hooked or overwhelmed.

I know these zen-like moments may feel like an out-of-reach dream in parenting sometimes, but I’m here to assure you that they are very possible to achieve with practice. Even if you tap into that fully present state a mere 25% more of the time, you’ll be amazed to see how much your connection with your child strengthens. Picture the drastic shift in your family dynamic!

So, how can we get there? I can help.

In my Mom Magic Workshops, moms of daughters and those who identify as daughters are invited to explore themselves in a safe and productive way that increases insight, logic, and confidence. You’ll learn endless strategies to enhance your connection, strengthen communication, and encourage your teens and pre-teens to rely on you as their person as they become their truest selves.

Some topics we’ll cover in Mom Magic include:

Motherhood and Sexism

Rights and Passages of Adolescence

Imperfect Parenting: how to get your daughters to talk to you

Self-Esteem and Worthiness: cultivating a strong and confident mom which leads to a strong and confident daughter

Counter-Will

The Art of Listening

Navigating Technology and Anxiety

Sexuality, Relationships and Critical Thinking

In my Mother + Daughter Workshops, you'll spend either a full day (7th & 8th graders) or a half day (5th & 6th graders) in a safe and cozy setting with your daughter. Together you’ll participate in a variety of gentle games and activities that will help you to connect, learn, and reflect. You’ll learn things in a larger group, then will break off in your pair to practice new skills. You will never be required to share with anyone but each other.

In the end, you’ll leave with a toolbox full of new and effective ways to communicate with integrity, update parts of your relationship, and incorporate inspired rituals to hold it all together.

It would be such an honor if you and your daughter came to sit with me in this workshop. Let’s learn and grow together to support our youth and raise a world full of empowered young people.

PS Dad workshop is in October (info coming soon)!!

With love and respect,

Deb
